About Your Host

Gee, it's hard to know what to tell and what to leave out.

The show is hosted by me, Adam Dennis, living in central Victoria, Australia, with my wife and two dogs. Turing is the older of the dogs; a mature and respectable fellow who yet retains the option to run out of the house at night barking madly. Micah - featured on this site - is still getting used to her first time on earth. She's most interested in biting things, mostly us. Oh, and digging up gardens.

We all live together in a 1970s kit home, constructed mainly of pine. Pine floors, pine walls, pine ceiling... and split pine logs on the outside. As far as possible we're minimising the pine. The walls are painted now, and the logs on the outside will be replaced (any year now) with fine corrugated iron. The house is in a permanent state of renovation, with two or three projects unfinished at any time. This keeps things interesting.

When not renovating, we run our IT consultancy. We specialise in Web, but actually do a wide range of work. Visit our company site here, if you must.

I'm also a musician. Having released a couple of CDs with my band The Jordans, I can see that podcasting is a good way to "leverage the back catalogue". For all you podcasters: heaps of The Jordans music is podsafe. Visit our website here to download some tracks.

The Talk Sessions

Pausing For Breath is an opportunity for me to indulge my opinionated self, ramble on about things that interest me. I trust that I'll find some kind-hearted souls who'll take pity on me and subscribe. Of course, every now and then there'll be someone who actually enjoys the show.

The idea is that you should sit back, get comfortable - wherever you are - and pause for breath while I do the talking. Then you email me with your comments, contributions and complaints... and I incorporate as much of your communications as possible in the next show.

That way everyone can get involved and maybe even have a good time.

The Tales

The Tales from Pausing For Breath will feature stories by me as well as some of the members of my writing group, the Highlands Scribblers. The idea is that you will find a quiet moment, pop in the earbuds and be transported. And if you're an author then by all means submit your work if you would like it to become part of the show. Ideally your story will be ten minutes or more, and its language and subject matter acceptable to most people.
